PlayStation’s September 2026 State of Play packed a surprising amount into one showcase, mixing fresh game reveals with updates on some of the biggest titles already on the calendar.
The presentation covered everything from horror and action RPGs to major expansions, classic catalogue additions and even new hardware accessories.
For players who missed the broadcast, these were the announcements that stood out most.

Marvel’s Wolverine Gets One Final Push

One of the biggest moments came from Marvel’s Wolverine, which received a final trailer ahead of its September 15, 2026 launch.
The footage combined gameplay and story scenes while bringing together a number of previously confirmed characters, including Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike, Mystique, Bolivar Trask and the Sentinels. The trailer positioned the game as one of PlayStation’s major releases for the autumn season.

Ghost Of Yotei Expands Again

Ghost of Yotei is getting a new single-player survival mode called Most Wanted.
The mode centres on run-based bounty hunts and introduces different playable characters, including Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. A Complete Edition of the game is also scheduled for October 1, 2026, giving new players a more comprehensive way to experience the title.

Monster Hunter Wilds Looks Ahead To 2027

Capcom also showed the first full-length trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.
The expansion was presented with a stronger focus on story while still showing plenty of combat and exploration. It is currently planned for release in 2027, though no exact date has been announced yet.

Metro 2039 Gets A Release Date

A new Metro 2039 gameplay trailer offered a darker, more confined look at the upcoming shooter.
Captured on PS5 Pro, the footage showed an intense shootout inside an apartment building. The game is now scheduled to launch on February 4, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Several New Games Were Revealed

The showcase also introduced a number of previously unannounced projects.
Maneater 2 continues the shark RPG series, this time following a shark attempting to escape Neptune’s Kingdom, a luxury resort and theme park. It is expected in 2027.
Hunter’s Moon takes a very different approach. The first-person horror game is set in 17th-century England and draws inspiration from historical witch hunts. Players observe a troubled village while following a woman accused of witchcraft. It launches on October 26, 2026.
Another reveal, Uncanyon, comes from Graceful Decay, the studio behind Maquette. The isometric puzzle game follows Sonia through a forgotten world trapped between parallel realities, with puzzles built around manipulating the environment itself. It is due in 2027.

Final Fantasy Had A Strong Showing

Final Fantasy Resonance revealed Sephiroth as a boss in a new trailer, while a playable demo became available immediately. The game is scheduled for October 22, 2026.
The larger surprise came from Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The presentation showed more of the party’s abilities, the Highwind airship, Chocobo combat, Wutai, Rocket Town and Gongaga.
The game will also include fast travel, a fast-forward option for cutscenes and side missions that can change depending on which party member takes the lead. Its release date is now confirmed for April 8, 2027.

Gran Turismo And Saros Get Major Updates

Gran Turismo 7 will receive its Spec IV update in two parts, arriving in October and December. The update adds 12 new cars, SUGO Circuit, a redesigned Autumn Ring, Online Drift Trials, Shuffle Races and a more casual Family Mode.
Saros is also getting a free Zenith update later this year. It will introduce Overlord Rush, a score-based boss mode, alongside a New Game Plus system called Eclipse Layers and additional accessibility options.

Until Dawn 2 And GTA VI Hardware

A new trailer for Until Dawn 2 focused on choices and consequences involving a ghost-hunting television crew exploring an abandoned sanatorium and remote island. The sequel is set for January 28, 2027.
PlayStation also announced a limited-edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controller in black and white versions. It launches on November 19, 2026, the same day as GTA VI.
Overall, the September showcase was less about one single headline announcement and more about giving PlayStation’s next several months a much clearer shape. With major releases arriving this autumn and several ambitious projects already lined up for 2027, the platform’s schedule is beginning to look increasingly crowded.
